Update: 17th June 2020
Dear Parents, Guardians and Pupils,
I trust that everyone is safe and well and feeling much better with the last easing of restrictions. There is no denying that the last number of months have been hard on everyone but we look forward to brighter and sunnier days ahead.
Glounaguillagh N.S. @ Home:
Many thanks to all those who have submitted photographs, recipes and other articles for inclusion in our weekly magazine. It has been a fun, enjoyable way to keep in contact with you all throughout this time. This week’s edition will be the second last one so don’t forget to send on your photos if you would like to be included. Planning for the new school year:
The roadmap for opening schools in September was published by the Department of Education and Skills (DES) on Friday. The document presented several models for a return to school, the optimal model being a full return to school in September for all children, something we all wish for. Unfortunately, the roadmap presented is critically short of clarity in relation to social distancing and safety issues. The DES has indicated that further guidance documents and templates will be published later in June and July which will inform policy and protocols for a return to school. Once we receive these documents, we will put a plan in place for September and communicate it to you as soon as possible.
Enrolment:
In order to get a picture of future enrolment, we have decided to carry out a survey of potential new entrants to Glounaguillagh National School. Completion of this survey will not bind anyone and it is NOT an enrolment form. The purpose of this is to give us an idea of what numbers we might expect in the coming years and to allow us to put plans in place for same. If applicable to you, could we ask you to complete the Google Form as soon as possible. If you have more than one child or know of more than one child, please fill out a separate form for each child. https://forms.gle/cKzAQEpXkYURvh6J7
Finally, thank you so much for your continued support and cooperation. Your kind words to our teachers are very much appreciated and give us all strength through these unprecedented times. Please do not hesitate to contact the school via glounaguillaghns@gmail.com if you think we can help you in any way.
Best wishes,
Sinéad Pigott
