Easter Holidays:
The school will close for the Easter Holidays on Friday 8th April at 12 noon. The school will reopen on Monday 25th April.
SSPS Inspection:
Our Department Inspector called on Tuesday 15th February for a ‘Supporting the Safe Provision of Schooling’ visit (SSPS). The Board is very pleased to note that the school was deemed to be 100% compliant with all the recommended Department of Education Covid-19 Health & Safety protocols. The Board of Management would like to take this opportunity to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff, pupils, parents, and our extended school community for their sustained efforts in keeping our school community as safe as possible during the course of this pandemic. It is reassuring and reaffirming to receive this report from the Inspectorate. We will share the full report once available.
Football:
We are delighted that the Cumann na mBunscol games are getting underway once again. The boys' team are due to play Caherleaheen N.S. next week in their first competition. The girls' games will get underway in the third term. Thanks to Pat for giving of his time to train our teams.
Time to Read:
Time to Read will be getting underway in 2nd Class in the coming weeks. We are delighted that Business in the Community Ireland and Fexco have committed to undertake the programme again this year. The programme will take place virtually with a visit to Fexco taking place before the end of the school year.
Junior Achievement Ireland:
Marie will be joining us from Fexco to work with 5th & 6th Class while Surya will be linking in from Dell to work with 4th & 5th Class. Mrs. Galvin's 5th & 6th Class will be working on the topic "The Power of Design" incorporating Entrepreneurship and STEM. Mrs. Fleming's 4th & 5th Class will cover the topic "Our World" which will look at Employability and STEAM. Our thanks to Junior Achievement Ireland for working with us on these topics.
Addditional Accommodation:
We have received approval from the Department to proceed to the next stage in relation to our new build. Planning permission has been sought and, subject to the timelines for obtaining planning permissions, it is envisaged that our project will proceed to tender and ultimately construction over the course of the coming months.
