Christmas Jumper Day:

Our annual Christmas Jumper Day raised a wonderful €315 for St. Joseph's Home. Thank you all for your support – it is wonderful to be in a position to help with the invaluable work that they do.

Aldi Stickers:

We are back collecting the Aldi Rugby Stickers to be in with a chance of winning some great prizes for the school. If you have any, we would be grateful if you could send them in.

Reunion Night:

Our wonderful Parents' Association members have organised a school reunion night on Sunday, 5th February, at the Red Fox. It's sure to be a great chance to catch up with old friends. Spread the word and come along on the night. €10 entry, all funds going towards continuing to grow & develop our school.

Photos:

In advance of the Reunion Night, we are searching through the archives for photos, etc. If you have any old photos or memorabilia that you would like to contribute, you can email us at glounaguillaghns@gmail.com

Parking:

We continue to remind parents to be please be mindful on approach to the school and to park responsibly when dropping your children to, and collecting from, school. Please do not park behind the staff cars. Pull in to the carparking spaces properly or use the other side of the road to park. Please do not park parallel to the school gates as it blocks access to the gates for the children and also impairs the line of sight for other drivers. Finally, we ask parents not to stop their cars in the immediate vicinity of the gates and allow children to hop out of cars. If your child is dropped to school by another family member, please pass this information on and ask them to park responsibly in the area surrounding the school.

Absence Notes:

While certain absences are unavoidable, such as when a child is sick, it is important to remember that the school must inform the statutory Educational Welfare Services of the Child and Family Agency if your child has missed 20 days or more in the school year. Following an absence, please complete an absence explanation note. All families have been provided with a booklet of these. If you need a replacement booklet, please let us know. The absence notes at the back of the Homework Journal (1st – 6th Class) can also be used.

Next Year:

It’s the time of the year when our attention begins to turn to September and putting plans in place for the new school year. To that end, if you know your child will not be returning to our school after the summer (other than 6th class pupils), please let the office know as soon as possible.

Kind regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
