June e-Newsletter
Dear Parents/Guardians,
Another busy school year is now drawing to a close. We would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your continued support throughout this school year.
Sympathy:
On behalf of the entire school community, we extend our deepest sympathy to Lisa, Vincent and the extended Lucey and Boland families on the sad passing of Vincent. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.
Summer Holidays:
The school will close for the summer holidays on Friday 24th June at 12 noon.
End-of-Year Service:
Our end-of-year service will take place on Friday 24th June at 11:15am. We hope to hold our service outdoors. Unfortunately, the weather forecast isn't looking too promising right now. In the event of poor weather, we will need to move the service indoors and, as a result, due to lack of space, will need to restrict the attendance to parents of 6th Class children only. Fingers crossed for fine weather! We are looking forward to marking the end of another school year and the end of the primary school journey for our 6th Class children.
Sixth Class:
Congratulations to our 6th Class pupils who are finishing their time with us here at Glounaguillagh. We wish you every good wish as you transfer to your respective secondary schools.
Calendar 2022/2023:
Please find attached the School Calendar for 2022/2023.

Staffing:
Mrs. Fiona Doyle will continue to job-share for the 2022/2023 school year. Ms. Caitríona McCarthy will continue as Fiona’s job-share partner. We will have two maternity leave positions beginning in September 2022. Interviews to fill these roles are taking place next week.
Confirmation:
Confirmation (for the present 6th Class) will be celebrated on Friday 9th September at 5:30pm in St. James’ Church, Killorglin.
September Reopening:
We will re-open on Thursday 1st September.
It has been another strange and challenging year for all our school community. We are very grateful for the continued support, goodwill, understanding and positivity shown by pupils, staff and parents alike.
Finally, on behalf of us all here at Glounaguillagh National School, I wish parents, children and family members a well-deserved and enjoyable break.
We look forward to seeing you all on Thursday 1st September.
Kind regards,
Sinéad Pigott
