June Update

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Another busy school year draws to a close! We would like to take the opportunity to thank you all for your continued support throughout this school year.

Sixth Class:

Congratulations to our 6th Class pupils who are finishing their time with us here at Glounaguillagh. We wish you every good wish as you transfer to your respective secondary schools.

Thank You & Goodbye:

Fraya (4th Class) is leaving us today. As a parting gift, Ann-Marie and Richard organised for the ice-cream van to stop by yesterday. Thank you so much for your generous gesture, Fraya, Ann-Marie, Richard and Ava. We wish you all the very best going forward.

Please find attached the School Calendar for 2024/2025.

SET Review:

As you are aware, we have been fighting hard over the last number of months to try to get more support hours for the school. We submitted our SET review in March and thankfully, received the good news a few weeks back that we have secured an increase of 12.5 hours for the school. We are very grateful for the help and support you gave us and, in particular, to those who contacted politicians on our behalf, thank you.

Staffing:

As a result of our increase in SET hours, we were in a position to create a new permanent post within the school. Ms. Ann O’Shea was appointed to this position from the supplementary panel. We are delighted to have Ann join us in a permanent capacity. Congratulations Ann and welcome to Glounaguillagh (officially!).

September Reopening:

We will re-open on Monday 2nd September.

Batteries for Barretstown:

We have a new collection tube in school for batteries. The following batteries can be recycled: 6v, 9v, D, C, AA, AAA and button batteries. The children received collection bags last week. Please continue to collect over the summer.

Finally, on behalf of us all here at Glounaguillagh National School, I wish parents, children and family members a well-deserved and enjoyable break.

Kind regards,

Sinéad Pigott

Principal
